Lavender stated that he was "in no way intending to sway the board in making a decision to not continue to allow the event on the fairgrounds only to point out his concerns for the community." The sheriff reportedly described a situation that took place this year during the event that he felt put the lives of his deputies and possibly the community at large in a life-threatening situation, and made clear to the board that although the sheriff's office would respond to calls as provided by law, the sheriff's office would no longer provide security for the event. The event has been held at the Ross County Fairgrounds for over 30 years. Another fun day had come to a close.CHILLICOTHE - The Ross County Fair Board voted to not hold the Easy Rider Rodeo event in 2022. I started to ask my husband about some of the events we saw today and was answered by snores. It was an easy and uneventful ride home and I was happy to be in my bed. I still think we were all just spent from getting up so early and being out in the sun and fresh air all day. We didn't stay long at Scooters because it was so busy we could only find a table out on the patio. Around 10:00pm we decided to head back towards Flint and stop in at Scooters before heading home. The entire day went so fast I couldn't believe the sun was already setting. We watched some of the rodeo events and after eating dinner found a spot to chill and watch the band. The guys wandered through the bikes that were on display. The girls and I visited some of the vendors and found a few things we had to have. ![]() We all had things we wanted to see and/or participate in. There were vendors all over and a stage for live music. There are so many motorcycles of every make and model to see and so many things to see and do. This is an event you have to see to fully appreciate. There was so much to see and so many really cool bikes. We decided that we would head home no later than 11:00pm since it was a 2 hour ride. Once we parked our bikes we discussed what time we would be leaving in case we got separated later. I left a huge tip and we were on our way back to the event. I couldn't believe that we all managed to eat at such a low cost. The biggest shock was when they brought the bill and it was so cheap. I told the waitress to put the bill all on one, I was springing for breakfast. I hardly had time to touch my coffee and they were bringing out our food. In town there was a great little breakfast spot called the Olden Days Cafe. Once we had checked in we debated going to grab breakfast. We arrived around 10:30 and things were just getting going but the place was busy already. Instead we choose to take I-69 out towards Bancroft and more country route down to Fowlerville. We had decided not to take US-23 as it tends to have more traffic issues. Stacey was sitting on her Sportster clearly eager to ride. Mike and Linda were ready when we arrived as was everyone else. We arrived early and again were the last to arrive. We needed to be at Scott's by 8:00am to meet part of our group and gas up. When Saturday arrived I was not ready to get up but knowing what I had in store for the day I got moving rather quickly. I kept thinking about the ride and the excitement that Saturday would bring. Some of us would meet at Scott's again, since it was close to us, and ride to Mike and Linda's together.įriday was a very long day for me. We planned to meet at Mike and Linda's house again since Fowlerville was south of Flint. Everyone wanted to go and was available to go. We all agreed that Saturday would be the better day to go. ![]() As luck would have it I wasn't scheduled to work this Saturday. While we were waiting for our burgers to be done, Jim brought up the fact that the Easyrider Festival was coming up. Our normal Thursday bike night was busy again tonight.
